Use for blogs inside a library

A library could establish different blogs where the borrowers can share their reading enjoyment.

Most library patrons I talk to love to tell me about the books they are reading. By encouraging patrons to use blogs they would be able to see what others have to say about a book they like and find suggestions about other similar books.

Blogs would be useful for staff to gain feedback from patrons about the library service.

Library staff could have a regular blog to inform patrons about new books available in the library.

Thinking - Lifelong Learning

We are learning all the time. Every day there is new technology that we have to spend a lot of time reading the instructions. For many years I had a microwave that defrosted and cooked just the way I liked. It stopped working and I bought a new one. Now when ever I try to defrost it will not do it - one day I will have to read the instruction book. I also have trouble with my new DVD player. But a visiting two year old recently managed to turn off the video I was playing and inserted a DVD she wanted to watch - no trouble.

My pensioner neighbors are both using the Internet and they love receiving photographs of their grandchildren.

I use computers everyday at work and I love helping library patrons develop their skills in using the available technology. I also have a computer at home and enjoy the challenges of keeping up with the latest advances in technology.

Just starting as a Blogger

Well I have my Blog. Dream Along With Me and user name Dreamhouse. I have selected a template.

What do I hope to learn from this program?

I am really keen to learn how to use all of the different ways of using and sharing information.
Some of the topics I have never read about or used. Recently a friend sent me an E-Mail and told me he had put my name on Facebook as a guest but I did not look at the site because I did not know what Facebook was.

I have always wanted to have a go at using blogs but have never found the time.

I hope that after completing the topics available over the next 12 weeks I will gain confidence and be able to use everything. In the future I can see that library staff will need to know how all these differnt products work because library patrons will be wanting to use them and they will expext the library staff to give them assistance and training.
